Are you an Ireland-based budding circus artist, full of excitement for the artform and eager to learn what a career in circus could look like?

Have you ever wondered what your life might be like if you chose to go abroad and enrol in a Circus School—launching you into life as a professional Circus Artist?

If you’re curious about this path but still have a lot of questions this two-part Circus School Lab is for you!

Motion Chapel and Circilar are excited to announce a two-weekend Circus School Application Lab, designed to give you the ideal environment to explore whether Circus School might be your exciting next step.

Across both weekends, you’ll engage in a mix of expert input and guided self-research to help you identify the Circus School options that best match your goals.

By the end of the Lab, you will have:

  • A solid understanding of the European and global Circus School landscape

  • Researched application and audition timelines for your top-choice schools

  • Created an actionable plan for applying

  • Learned about effective application writing and audition preparation

This application is open to 16 years+, Under 18’s much be accompanied by an adult.

Application Deadline: January 5th

Weekend 1

Dates: 14-15 February
Location: Shawbrook Residential, Longford
Accommodation: One night in a dorm room (Saturday night)
Travel: Lifts from the nearest public transport can be arranged; parking available.

Saturday, 14 February: 

  • Why go to Circus School?
  • What schools exist?
  • What do alumni have to say about their time at different Circus Schools?

Sunday, 15 February: 

  • Guided self-research into choosing your top Circus School
  • Researching application timelines and requirements
  • Creating an actionable application game plan
  • Exploring what’s involved in studying abroad

Weekend 2

Dates: 21-22 March
Location: Motion Chapel, Roscommon
Accommodation: One night in a dorm room (Saturday night)
Travel: Lifts from the nearest public transport can be arranged; parking available.

Saturday, 21 March:

  • Check-in on individual application progress
  • Peer-to-peer feedback on applications
  • General Q&A

Sunday, 22 March: 

  • All about auditions: how they work and how to prepare
  • Session with Emmet Louis: physical preparation for Circus School and sustaining physical health throughout training
