Space & Time to Explore Residencies

The residencies are open nationally and internationally to professional artists working in the field of circus and street arts. Motion Chapel selects artists based on artistic quality, necessity, diversity and how the project resonates with the selection committee. Two five day residencies are offered by Motion Chapel in 2025.Bursaries are offered for individual artists or duos to come and stay to explore new ideas for 5 days in Motion Chapel. Artists will stay in a private room with a desk, and have exclusive access to the training space for 5 days. Elise and Emmet will be available for informal advice during their stay.

These residencies are geared towards research and exploration giving the artist(s) time to explore something new; a new idea, discipline, medium, concept etc. The aim is not to create a finished piece.

One residency is targeted towards established artists and the second residency is targeted towards emerging artists. Motion Chapel does not have the infrastructure to facilitate aerial rigging, however we can direct you to a third party who can arrange a free standing rig at an additional cost.

• Shared access to the Motion Chapel community and office space.
• Exclusive access to the Motion Chapel training space for 4 hours per day shared access in the evenings.

• €50 Travel Allowance.
• €500 Artist Stipend.
• €300 Documentation Stipend.
• 4 nights of accommodation
• Self catered kitchen facilities available, Artist lunch included.
• The option to be interviewed for a podcast episode on their research.
